Unborn Babies Hooked on Soap Operas

Babies are becoming soap opera addicts, while they a re still in their mothers’ womb, a new study reveals. But it’s not the plot of the shows that calls the unborn children’s attention, it is the theme music. The study – done at Queen’s University in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and reported in Psychology Today – ______ that when mothers are regular watchers of sops, their babies can recognize the themes after birth and the music has calming effect on the infants. Researchers suspect that  since  the  mothers  are  relaxing  while  watching TV  shows,  their  babies  associate  the  music  with  comfort  and  quiet after listening to it hundreds of times. In this study, two out seven infants with soap-fan moms stopped crying almost the instant they hear the theme music from their mom’s favorite soap. What’s more, six of seven appeared to actually watch the show.
